The Get Schooled challenge is a friendly competition to motivate an entire school to improve educational outcomes. Ultimately each challenge strengthens a school's college going culture while introducing proven tools that engage and inspire students.
One of this year's awards went to T.C. Williams, and Mark Wahlberg was a part of the prize for students when he visited in April. This video was directed and shot by students enrolled in Television Production courses in the high school.
Schools in a challenge compete to boost a key educational outcome (attendance, FAFSA completions) and to have the most students active. Student activity earns points for schools and for students themselves; an on-line leaderboard tracks progress, and students track their own progress on their profile page. Activities are digital -- on-line and mobile - and show students and educators how to leverage technology to effectively further educational goals.
